What is your experience working with computers?
I have worked with computers throughout highschool and my experience as a nurse. I do not know all the programs, but I have generally ability with computers.

Are you a PC or a Mac user?
A PC. Thats what we have had in our house and that is what I am used to using.

What do you use the Internet for?
The family computer which we have in my house or other computers from the library or a friend.

What software programs do you use most often.
I can honestly admit that I do not use the computer very often. I like to work and usually that takes up most of my time. The most I usually do with my computer is check my e-mail and use facebook.com to stay intouch with friends and family.

What is your experience working with the Adobe Suite Programs?
None.

Do you have any particular Mac or Adobe applications that you would like to be introduced to, other than the Adobe Suite?
None inparticular. I'm always open to trying and learning new things.

What are your outside interest that influenced your decision in taking this class?
I've always been interested in computers and wanted to know more about them. To me, I feel as though computers are the "future" in a way. Anything that I can gain in this class about computers will be very helpful.
What are you expecting to get out of this class?
A better knowledge and skill with computers and the programs offered.

Are you taking the Crefor credit or non credit?
For credit.

How many hours of a week to you have to dedicate to homework?
Inbetween classes and the part of the time over the weekend when I'm not working.

What type of teaching works best for you: lectures/handouts/demos/practice in class/ one on one/independent learning…?
To me, demos and participations are always helpful. I like to see what the main idea is and then try it again for myself to make sure that I understand it and know that I can do it on my own.

Do you have any challenges that make it difficult for you to learn in a computer class?
No.

What is the difference between a bitmap and a vector graphic?
I am not sure.

To upload an image onto the web vs printing the image it requires that you alter the image. What is it that needs to be altered?
I'm not exactly sure, but I believe that sometimes sizing can be an issue and it sometimes requires a certian bmp, jpg, etc.

What is the difference between dpi and ppi?
I am not sure.

There are several different types of image files, a few are: jpeg, tiff, .psd, raw. Describe the difference between these a jpeg and a .psd.
I am not sure.

What are .PDF’s used for?
I am not sure.

What does it mean to color manage a digital image?
I am not sure.

Have you ever downloaded images from the web? What did you use them for?
I've downladed images from the computer before for school related things or for me to be able to download music.

Have you ever researched a topic of interest to you? If so what? And how did you research?
Yes. Whenever I'm interested in something the internet is one of the first places I turn too. I've also used it for many of projects and studies in school. Or even to check schools that I might be interested in like when I was thinking about attending Moore College.

What is the the difference between a creative commons licence and a traditional copyright licence?
I am not sure.

My Life at Moore

I must admit that I feel as though life is changing for me, and I am definitely excited. Moore is a beautiful school and has so much to offer for us as students. The first week of school was indeed, a little stressful. The teachers are very nice and I believe they are willing to help in anyway. But at the same time, I felt as though they assumed you already knew what you needed and where you were going. For us students just starting, it seemed confusing. And I understand that almost everything is done through the internet now and days, but what if you are unable to afford a computer or have rare access to one? I personally believe that the computer takes away are ability to be human. But I do admit and agree that we can accomplish much with the internet and I am willing to learn. I just feel that we need more verbal communication. But in conculsion, I am so happy to be attending school here and to be apart of this college. I hope that as I continue on this path that I not only gain artistic ability but that I learn from my experiences.
